Catalinbread Pedals...
Catalinbread pedals are handbuilt in Portland Oregon. A must for any pedal connoisseur.
Catalinbread Bicycle Delay
Catalinbread Bicycle Delay

The Bicycle Delay is as organic as a computer growing from a tree. Sonically the pedal is ever changing, even turning the knobs has an amorphous behavior. Go with it.

EXPERIENCE
Plug your instrument into the Bicycle Delay and directly into your amplifier. Set all knobs to noon, clear yourself mentally and, for a time, destroy all notions of control. Listen to what the Bicycle Delay has to say. Approach each knob with an open mind. Take note of how they interact with each other and you. One knob at a time, be mindful of where the Bicycle Delay is taking you.

LUCIDITY
Yin and Yang. There is a balance. The weight of each side is symbiotic and ever changing.

REFLECT
Amplifies the reflections of sounds being generated.

MOOD
Tailspin or ascending a thermal? Sometimes it’s hard to tell. Even at the center there is chaos in the tranquility. Embrace it.

EXPANSE
Where is the focus? Inward, close at hand? Or gazing outward at a far away horizon in the mind’s eye? Somewhere in between? Your journey can be as short or as long as you care to make it. Take your time.

Catalinbread Csidman

The first thing to keep in mind about the CSIDMAN is that it completely embraces and makes no apologies for the fact that it is digital (though it does have a 100% analog dry path). Digital is the CSIDMAN’s aesthetic: as a delay pedal, it strives to reproduce echoes as true to the input as possible without filtering. When you utilize its scratched disc, stuttery, and glitchy behaviors, it is pseudo-random, yet gives you a certain amount of “control” over the randomness.
Controls:
TIME Controls the echo delay line’s delay time up to 725mS, as well as the rate of the glitch.
MIX Gives you control over the wet/dry balance from 100% wet to 100% dry.
FEED Controls the amount of feedback going back into the unit.
CUTS (used in conjunction with the LATCH knob) controls the buffer memory length.
LATCH controls the relative time in a cycle that the CSIDMAN is in a latching skipping state. When full counterclockwise, it doesn’t skip, allowing you to use the pedal as a traditional digital delay. When full clockwise, the unit is stuck repeating whatever is in the buffer memory. At noon, this knob is a 50/50 balance (though random) between a skip-playback state and non-skip sample state.

Catalinbread Bella Epoch

The Catalinbread Belle Epoch Tape Echo, has tape echo sounds so authentic you’d swear there was tape inside the pedal! Inspired by the Maestro Echoplex, EP-3 model, perhaps the most famous tape delay ever, the Belle Epoch features everything we love about the EP-3 in a small, maintenance free pedal format. We felt that a “tape echo” pedal was much more than just a standard digital delay with some “filtering” on the repeats. There are a lot of subtle and not-so-subtle traits of the Echoplex that needed to be implemented in order to be authentic. The preamp, the self-oscillation character, the ability to control the “record level” of the signal hitting “tape”, the wow and flutter, the way the repeats decay, the way the circuit interfaces with the amp and other pedals – all these things were important to get right. The original unit was used as a musical instrument unto itself and this is what we captured with the Belle Epoch.

Catalinbread Topanga
Catalinbread Topanga

The outboard Fender 6G15 spring reverb unit is the sound of Surf guitar, Spaghetti Western and many other great guitar sounds from the sixties.  Part of its magic, and how it differs from the internal spring reverb found in most Fender-style amps, is that it is run *in front* of the amp, causing the reverb signal to distort and sound more intense.  Because there were additional knobs on the outboard units, you also have more control over the reverb qualities. The Dwell knob controlled how hard the springs were getting hit by the guitar signal. The Tone knob allowed the treble to be dialed back to just the right degree of brightness.

Catalinbread did just that! Besides giving you the classic three knob control compliment of the original, we’ve also added a great discrete preamp that you can control via the Volume knob for a healthy amount of great clean boost when you want it

Catalinbread Katzenkonig

The elements of a Tone Bender MkII fuzz with a Rat distortion to create something that sings like a fuzz but is tight like a distortion. It loves humbuckers and single coils. It loves your cranked amp and your super clean amp.

Katzenkönig was tuned to offer a huge range of response – from a really beautiful singing tone, to tight, harmonically-rich crunch, all the way to fuzz mayhem.
A simple, four-knob control scheme allows you to dial in your sound quickly and without much fuss.

Catalinbread Adineko

The ADINEKO can achieve the authentic oil can sounds, but is designed  to model the mechanical concept well beyond what was possible in original units. Let’s set up your ADINEKO for an authentic oil can sound!
TIMING to 9-10 o’clock
VISCOSITY to 9-10 o’clock
REVERB to the verge of self oscillation
Now you’re hearing all of the hallmarks of an original oil can unit. A relatively short echo time on two taps, a vibrato in concert with the  delay time, and a reverb that sounds like low lying fog coalescing upon the verge of a self-oscillating resonant point.

Catalinbread Echorec

This multi-tap delay is based around the legendary Binson Echorec, an arcane tube echo which incorporated 4 playback heads and a spinning magnetic drum as its recording medium. The Binson is probably most famously known for Pink Floyd's use of the unit, and has long captivated musicians for both its rhythmic and ambient characteristics.

The Catalinbread Echorec has 12 programs which allow for all combinations of the 4 delay heads (something the original was never capable of.) The original also has a fixed speed, and thus a fixed delay time, while the Catalinbread Echorec can go from 40ms-1000ms. The repeats give you the ability for a single repeat or can go into spaceship feedback. The tone control is very useful, able to be tonally flat or dark and resonant on one side or bright and bubbly on the other. The mix allows for 100% wet or dry signal. Inside
the pedal you have the ability to run in true-bypass or trails mode, as well as a trimmer for gain and modulation.

Catalinbread Sabbra Cadabra

Tony Iommi+Treble Booster+Laney Supergroup= m/
“Transform any guitar rig into a rig of doom with the Sabbra Cadabra.”

The Sabbra Cadabra is a custom-tuned Rangemaster-based booster combined with the pre-amp section of a Laney Supergroup. The two circuits are carefully voiced together to achieve the riffs of doom tone that Tony Iommi is so well known for. Four controls (RANGE, GAIN, PRESENCE, and  VOL 4) allow you to fine-tune the response to your guitar and rig. If you’re familiar with Sabbath’s live album, ‘Past Lives’, then you’ll understand where we were going with this pedal – huge, raw, responsive!

Catalinbread Zero point
Catalinbread ZeroPoint

The Zero Point Flanger is the most direct analogy to studio tape flanging that anybody has come up with. It is a REAL TIME effect not a  typical modulation effect. That is to say, unlike all other pedal  flangers, there is no LFO that presents a predictable up and down swooshing sound, the trite flanger effect that died in the 80s. Thus there is no need for extraneous knobs or switches. It is a straight-foward pedal that has only one powerful control that behaves like pressing and holding your thumb on tape flange.

Catalinbread FN5

The Formula No. 5 was inspired by old tweed amps, most notably the 5E3 circuit. The character of the 5E3 is very unique. It has very minimal power filtering, low plate voltages, elemental tone stack, and does next to nothing to control the low end between gain stages, not to mention the under-rated output transformer and speaker. The entire system runs inefficiently resulting in a loose bass, greasy mids, cutting treble, and incredible grit.
